Attendance / Report an Absence

If your child is absent, please call Mrs. Sylvia Fisher at  817-399-3513 or email her at sylviafisher@hebisd.edu to report the absence.

If you leave a voicemail, include:

  • Your child’s name, grade, and teacher
  • The reason for the absence
  • Your name (and repeat the info for clarity)

Parents must report absences within 72 hours. Absences not reported in time will be considered unexcused, regardless of the reason. If your child has been absent more than 10% of school days (8days per semester), a doctor’s note will be required for each additional absence Tardiness / Late Arrivals.

  • A “head to class” bell rings at 7:35 a.m.
  • Students have 10 minutes to put away belongings and get ready.
  • At 7:45 a.m., students are expected to be in their seats, ready to learn.
  • If not seated at 7:45 → marked tardy.
  • If not physically in the classroom → marked absent until corrected.

The registrar corrects absences to tardies by 9:30 a.m., and updates should appear in Home Access Center (HAC) by 1:00 p.m. If you get an absence call but your student was tardy, don’t worry — it will be updated!

Doctor's Notes

  • When your child visits a doctor, dentist, or health professional during the school day:
  • Request a signed note with the appointment date/time.
  • Turn it into the office as soon as your child returns.
  • If your child must stay home longer, the note must list the exact dates of the absence.
  • Thank you for working with us to keep attendance accurate and students successful!
